It's amazing how a summer that you intend to be slow can become so cluttered. Anyway, I am no where near where I expected to be with this site by now, so please check back later.

I have done a fair amount of roleplaying, but I feel that existing fantasy systems are rather unimaginative in their worlds and more concerned with how characters can meet gross and untimely deaths at the hands of new monsters. I am working on a system that allows the GM much greater freedom in action that focuses on the interaction, foibles, strengths and prejudices of different cultures. If you prefer just the excitement of battle, fine. Pick two cultures with milenia old hatreds of each other. If you prefer more subtle means, this system should provide much more opportunies that would just get an army mad at a warriar. I hope to have this up on the site in the next few months, but school has a way of taking more time than anticipated.

I am a student affiliate of the American Chemical Society and a student member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, Inc. That right there should tell you that my first interest is not roleplaying. I am an engineering major in Colorado, USA. I also have a very strong interest in History, particularly military history from ancient cultures to WWII, The American Civil War and the cultures, histories, and religions of peoples prior to 1000 AD.
This is part of my problem with roleplaying systems (at least as my group always played them). I am fascinated by culture and see a tremendous dearth of it in fantasy roleplaying but an amazing amount in fantasy literature and history. While i am studying to be an engineer (I enjoy it to much to not do it professionally for a while), I would be surprised to retire a history professor.
